MOGADISHU(CKG)– In a landmark decision, Somalia’s Federal Parliament on Wednesday approved the establishment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, a constitutional body aimed at ensuring transparent and credible electoral processes across the nation.
The newly formed commission will oversee elections at all levels of government, playing a pivotal role in Somalia’s ongoing efforts to implement One-Person One-Vote elections nationwide. This initiative reflects the Somali government’s commitment to bolstering democratic institutions and restoring citizens’ right to freely elect their leaders.
The 18-member commission, composed of experts with extensive experience in democratic governance, includes:
