President Mohamud in Saudi for Arab League Summit

by CKG Editor

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Jeddah town of Saudi Arabia to participate in the 32nd Arab League Summit.

The delegation led by President Mohamud was welcomed by Saudi officials at the airport.

The president will join other Arab leaders to discuss ways to reinforce the ties between the Arab States and other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Saudi Arabia has invited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received to this week’s Arab summit in Saudi Arabia, the first such invitation since the country’s war began.

The last Arab League summit Assad attended was in 2010 in Libya.

The pan-Arab body had suspended Damascus in November 2011 over its crackdown on protests which began earlier that year, and which spiralled into a war that has killed more than 500,000 people, displaced millions and battered the country’s infrastructure and industry.
