Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday received diplomatic credentials from the new ambassadors of Djibouti, Canada and Cuba, his office said.
Djibouti’s newly appointed ambassador, Mohamed Ibrahim Yusuf has presented his credentials to Somalia’s president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In a ceremony held in Villa Somalia, President Mohamud welcomed the new ambassador and wished him success in his new role.
Ambassador Yusuf has pledged to work on strengthening the relations between Djibouti and Somalia.
President Mohamud also received credentials from the ambassadors of Canada Christopher Thornley and Cuba Manuel Rodriguez.
It is the first time Cuba and Canada have appointed ambassadors to Somalia since the Horn of Africa country’s military government collapsed in 1991.
