Burundi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Albert Shingiro has arrived in Mogadishu to hold talks with So.ali leaders.
Shingiro who reached Somalia’s capital today will be in Mogadishu for a two-day visit.
The country’s foreign minister, Abshir Omar Jama has welcomed his Burundian counterpart and delegation at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
The two ministers briefly discussed the relations between the countries before the Burundian FM was escorted to Villa Somalia where is scheduled to meet with the country’s top leaders.
The Burundi contingent is the second largest within African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (Atmis) with over 5,000 troops.
The country was also the second to deploy troops into Somalia, its first soldiers had arrived in Mogadishu in December 2007.
