Blast kills three al-Shabaab suspects in Mogadishu

by CKG Editor

At least three suspected al-Shabaab operatives were killed in an explosion in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

According to the police, an autorickshaw carrying explosives and three occupants forced its way through a checkpoint in Mogadishu, leading the security forces to give a chase.

The officials said the autorickshaw overturned and exploded, killing the occupants. The explosion took place on General Daud Road in the Hamar Jajab district.

The explosion also wounded one civilian who happened to be near the area when the blast occurred.

Al-Shabaab has not commented on the foiled attack. The group has been fighting the Somali government and AU forces in Somalia for more than a decade.

Despite losing many towns and villages in many parts of the country, the group is still capable of carrying out deadly bombings.

Al-Shabaab fighters attack military bases outside Mogadishu and government institutions in the capital and other major towns.
