Four people have died, and two others injured following a suspected terror attack in Dadaab, Garissa County.
The Friday incident occurred after the vehicle they were travelling in ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Kulan area along the Dadaab- Garissa Road.
According to reports, the vehicle exploded killing the four on the spot. The injured were evacuated and rushed to a local hospital in serious condition, police said.
The driver had about 10 health officials who were conducting the Garissa County TB exercise when the incident happened.
This is the latest incident after a lull of almost a month because of rains that cut off roads there.
Police have intensified operations in the area to address the terror menace thwarting dozens of planned attacks.
Kenya’s northeastern region has been borne the brunt of grenade and gun attacks in the last several years since Kenya took its troops to Somalia to fight the al-Shabaab group.
The group’s fighters target non-locals and civil servants in the county, forcing hundreds of non-local doctors, teachers, and government workers to flee the region.
The group vowed to continue staging attacks on Kenya’s soil until the East Africa nation withdraws its soldiers from Somalia.
